I was in a bad car wreck last year and it’s about to be settled. The amount that they are saying I will get is $50,000. The total amount of medical bills I paid was $33,440 and the lawyer is charging 25% for fees so he’ll be taking $12,500 off the top.
Will I have to pay taxes on the money that I receive from the lawsuit if it is being awarded to me for the physical damages I had and for the medical bills I had to pay?
My kids and I were in a car wreck. We are settling the kids cases soon and we need money now! Not to blow but for housing do to job loss issues. The lawyer said I can’t touch their money it will go to trust fund. Which really is fine but for the kids well being we need the money now. My suit has to go to trial so i cannot get that money yet, Should I get a new lawyer or is that just how it is?

My car was totaled last April. I am involved in a lawsuit now about the car, but the city I live in says I need to remove it from my property or they will remove it for me and charge it. I’m just wanting to know some information on other cases that might have had to go through this. I basically was in a wreck wasn’t our fault. my ankle got injuried and i’ve never had to go with a lawyer before and was just wondering what other people have expericened through this time. and how much they recieved. it has been 3 months ago and i am still having to see docs cause my ankle has not healed yet but if it does i want to know what kind of settlement would i be looking at? my lawyer has his fee of 1/3 of whatever i get. but in other cases what did ya’ll get?
