It is an old car that I use for commuting. It is only worth about $1500 fair market value, but I just put a new motor in it for $2000 and a guy rearended me and pushed me into the car in front of me, so it is gone. Is it just my bad luck for fixing an old car, or do they take that kind of stuff into consideration if I have the receipts. Also, I want to keep the car because it was in the family since it was new, so if I do that, will I get nothing? It will cost way more to fix than it is worth. What should I do? Also, me and my 2 year old both have whiplash, and I had to pay for the hospital visit with my insurance and I had to pay the copay for both of us. I still hurt, but nothing is broken, I just can’t move my neck because it is strained, and my son has a nasty knot on his head, but we are fine. Should I get a lawyer? I am not trying to ambulance chase… I am not greedy, but it just sucks that I am out all this money I put into my car, that ran better than a new one, and then I don’t know what my pain will be like next week because it hurts worse today. The guy told me and the lady he made me hit that he was texting his girlfriend and didn’t see me, so they established him at fault, but I just feel so screwed, because I am going to have to start driving my tahoe again, which gets crap gas mileage, and I totally get that has nothing to do with the insurance company what kind of car my other car is, but what if I didn’t have the tahoe? Wouldn’t the provide a rental? I am just not sure where to go from here. I don’t even feel like driving, but even if I wanted to, I am going from a car that gets 38 mpg, to a SUV that gets 11mpg, argh. Oh well, what should I do?

Two carjacking suspects were in custody Wednesday after the vehicle in which they were fleeing from deputies crashed into a pickup truck in South Los Angeles, killing the man who was driving it, authorities said.
Paramedics sent to Century Boulevard west of Vermont Avenue shortly before 7 a.m. pronounced a man dead at the scene, d’Lisa Davies of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
Miguel Castro Falcon, 46, of Los Angeles, died in the accident, said Capt. Ed Winter of the coroner’s office.
The vehicle, a Toyota Camry, that crashed into the truck had been carjacked at gunpoint shortly before 5 a.m., Deputy Johnie Jones of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau said.
Deputies saw it about 7 a.m. and started chasing it, but backed off when they were told it was just a stolen vehicle, Jones said. It then crashed into the pickup truck.
The passenger in the Camry was arrested at the scene after getting into one of several other vehicles that were involved in the collision and trying to pass himself off as a victim, deputies said.
The driver fled but was caught about 90 minutes later, Jones said.
Both suspects were 16 years old, Los Angeles police said.
“I felt that they left him in the car too long,” Charles Rhodes, who said Falcon’s sons were in his karate class. “He (sat) there and suffered for about 10 minutes before he died. And that’s unfortunate, that a police pursuit went bad.”
The watch commander called off the chase “figuring that … the suspect would slow down and nobody would get injured from the incident.”

http://theydiedtooyoung.blogspot.com/ Tragic news: Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart killed in hit-and-run
By ‘Duk
Terrible news out of California this morning, where we’ve just learned that the Angels’ Nick Adenhart was killed in an early morning hit-and-run accident in Fullerton on Thursday.
The news was first reported by TMZ and later confirmed by Yahoo! Sports baseball columnist Tim Brown.
Just 22 years old, Adenhart started for Los Angeles on Wednesday night and struck out five over six scoreless innings in a 6-4 loss to Oakland.
According to reports, Adenhart was driving home with three others in his Mitsubishi when a mini-van ran through a red light and hit Adenhart’s car, causing it to crash into a light pole. Two passengers in the car died on the scene while another was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the mini-van fled the scene, but was later apprehended by police.
This is the most tragic news you can imagine in the baseball world and our thoughts go out to Adenhart’s family and the entire Angels’ organization, which was already reeling from the death of a fan who was involved in a fight on Opening Day
