A truck that i own and insured for 25/50/50 liability was involved in a wreck. My friend was driving and …..

pulled out in front of someone. He was found guilty for “failure to yield, right of way”. The driver of the other car that hit him broke his leg severely, and had a steel rod installed, …i am sure that it was painful. My question is, can he and his lawyers come after me for more damages money wise if his medical bills and pain and suffering go higher than my coverage? My friend had permission to drive my truck, and the accident happened in Tennesee. What is the threshold? My house is worth $22,000 at best, and i am on social security disability also….Can they take part of my check? I get $812 a month. Thanks in advance.

I borrowed my friend’s car with his permission. After I wrecked it, he is claiming I stole it. What can I do?

I am not really involved in this occurance. I am asking on my roommate’s behalf.

My roommate was at his house (back in his MISSOURI hometown) and had several of his friends over. When one of his friends became intoxicated (underage) and wanted something to eat, he gave my roommate permission to drive his car to go to the store. My roommate then wrecked the car about 100 yards away from the house (it was mid-January, and there was black ice on the road). After he wrecked, he decided to walk back to the house because he did not have a cell phone on him. When he told his friend (still intoxicated), his friend said he would take care of everything the next morning. Unfortunately, local police found the abandoned, wrecked car first.

Come to find out, months later, my roommate was arrested for 3 charges. Apparently, his friend is accusing him of driving the car without permission.

His charges:
1. TAMPERING (1st degree).
2. RECKLESS DRIVING.
3. LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT.

How easy would it be for my roommate to get prove these accusations false? He cannot afford a private lawyer, but is worried that a public defender will not be able to help him as much.

My roommate’s case:
1. My roommate’s younger brother was witness to the car owner’s verbal permission to allow my roommate to drive. He also witnessed the car owner giving my roommate the keys.

2. It wasn’t reckless driving, it was on a very dangerous road in the middle of winter.

3. He left the scene to go back to the house to let his friend know because he did not have the cell phone. Foolishly, instead of calling the police right away, both he and his friend decided to wait until morning to take care of it.

Which charges do you think could be proven false?
Public defender vs. private attorney (remember, he can’t afford an attorney)?
Possible prison time, probation time, fines?

Any information or advice you can give me would help out immensely.

lawyers and government haters across america.. check out this f*cked up story?

My wife received a letter saying that she was being sued by an insurance company. The company was basing the lawsuit off of a police report that stated that my wife’s car was involved in an accident with thir client. We tried to tell them that they had the wrong person but the lawfirm insisted that they were looking directly at the police report, they read off my wife’s information (tag number, VIN, make, model, etc.)

We went to the police station to look at the report and sure enough it had her information logged into their computer. It stated that a guy was using her car, drove drunk and hit someone. The guy then jumped out of the car, ran from the police on foot and was arrested. The car was impounded. We tried to explain to the clerk that we did not know who the person was and that they had never driven our car. She insisted that we must have. We asked if the car in question had been impounded and they said yes. We went to the impound and found the car that was involved in the accident. It was sitting there on their lot with damage exactly where the report said it was.

We compared the information from my wife’s car and the car at the impound and the tags and VIN were completely different. Not one number was similiar. We spoke to the owner of the tow company and he remembered the event and knew that the car we were looking at was indeed the car in question. He comfirmed that our car was not the car involved in the wreck. The only thing in common was that they were both pontiacs. Different year, color and make. Just pontiacs….

We go back to the police station with the information and the officer who wrote the report would not speak with us. We had to go through supervisor after supervisor before we finally got the officer outside. He then admitted that when seeing our car “that I know that isn’t the car that is involved in the wreck. That car is still at the impound”. When we asked him how he got all of my wife’s information on the report, he could not give an answer.

My wife was, at the time, trying to get a job with Honda and was close to a custody battle with her ex and if the report had gone unnoticed, that could have caused huge damages to her name and chances to keep her son. They would have suspended her license and revoked her registration for her car. I know that filing a false police report is a crime in all states and in some cases could be defermation (sp) of character. Especially in this situation. My question to you is, do you think that we have a claim against the city or should we say no harm no foul and let it go?

I joking told someone I was going to sue for 100k and a police car…
just so i could pull over cops!!!.. I’d go to jail for that sh*t..

Any my second question is, how does a police force screw that up and randomly come up with someone else information? If this happned to us and we barely caught it, how many other police reports have been messed up and justice has not been served in some form or fashion?

sorry so long
wow devan.. you’re a big boy.. you should be proud of youself.. difference is, i can say that in front of my parents because I am an adult.. if you do it, you get sent to bed without dinner.. shut up and grow up.. i did that to be polite to others..
the information on the police report was that of my wife’s.. the some how manufactured her information and put it on the police report.. once we found the actual wrecked car at the impound, we were thinking that maybe one number was different and that it was a typo but every number was different from hers so we didnt know where they got her information.. that is why we were being sued.. because the police report had my wife’s information on it..

how much do people get from a car accident settlement?

I got into a car accident last august, some lady ran a a stop sign and “t-boned” me. When police came they said she didn’t have a license. I dont know if they meant she didnt have one at all or if she just didn’t have it on her at the time. Anyways, the car was considered a total wreck, i hurt my back really bad. The car had to be taken. The car i was driving was my boyfriend’s mom’s car. So she got the money for the car. I contacted a lawyer about the accident. They’ve been sending me to get treatment which has really helped a lot. I recently just finished my treatment and my lawyer told me they would send the other party’s insurance all the info and wait for them to make an offer. I just want to find out how much do people usually get from this and how the whole money thing goes. I know my lawyer gets paid first from the money from the settlement? I dont know, this is the first time something like this has ever happened to me. So exactly how much do people get from suing for the same reasons i am going through.

My dad was in a car accident a few days ago but doesnt have lawyer money?

He says his neck hurts and it costs 4,000 to get the car fixed and we don’t have that money. The airbag stopped him from getting killed. A girl hit my dad real hard on his drivers side and she ran off in her car. My dad was the only one in the car, he was so shook up he didn’t get her license plate number. He has insurance and we know nothing about the girl. she drove away when he said he was calling the police. He has witnesses that saw the girl crash into him. The people don’t know what the girls name is or where she lives but they know where she hangs out at and they told the police. They did a police report and my dad hasn’t got it yet. I don’t think he knows what to do about this. We took pictures of the car and he thinks that’s all he has to have.We haven’t found the girl that hit him and he cant afford a lawyer. He doesn’t have $4000 to pay for what the girl did. He thinks he can get a lawyer for free. What is he supposed to do since hes saying his back hurts and the car is wrecked on the side and he cant get a lawyer?

My lawyer wants my boyfriend insurance info, is he sueing my boyfriend?

Okay, my boyfriend and I were in a car wreck and I ended up breaking some bones in my right hand. I’ve now completed medical treatments for my hand, so I’m thinking this should be over soon. But the last time I called my lawyer, they wanted my boyfriends insurance information. (Liability, personal injury, so on.) Does them wanting that info mean they’re trying to get money from his insurance or just use it to help me out?
