Truck driver pleads guilty to 2008 Pell City officer fatality
Pell City — James Michael Scogins pleaded guilty after changing his original plea on Wednesday. Scogins, who was originally charged with the manslaughter of Officer Kenneth “Greg” Surles and pleaded “not guilty,” changed his plea to “guilty” of vehicular homicide on Wednesday.

Report: Cop in Fatal Wreck was Driving 87-99 MPH
The Warrenton police officer involved in a March fatal accident that killed another driver was traveling between 87 and 99 mph, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash reconstruction report.

87-year-old man sentenced for death of motorcyclist
Calling it one of the toughest decisions he’s made since becoming a judge, Freeborn County District Court Judge Steve Schwab on Monday sentenced 87-year-old Marvin William Steinhauer to a stayed sentence and probation in connection to the death of a motorcyclist in May of 2009.
