I was hurt bad, and had to do a lot of treatments.. It’s been a year almost and I am a lot better now. The bills are about $7,000, what will the insurance company settle with, is it 3 times that amount or can I ask for more. I still have to pay the medical back. I don’t have a lawyer, I don’t need one.
The company is American Family Insurance, amd it was a work truck that hit me!!
Thanks!
They have insurance, and it was his fault.

Get a lawyer — anyone who tells you you don’t need one is trying to pull a quick one on you. You’ll pay for it with your settlement — it’s likely the business will want to settle out of court.
Don’t shoot yourself in the foot.

if you were hit on the job you should ask your employer about worker’s compensation

“I don’t have a lawyer, I don’t need one.”
That is FALSE. If you have to ask ANYONE, you should be asking YOUR lawyer.

It depends on what the company’s insurance policy is. Might be 50k on injury and 50k or 300k on injury or loss of work, etc.
Call the insurance company and ask. Then, if they don’t give you a very good answer, look up on Google “uninsured Motorist” first. You may be able to claim that on their insurance policy. The agents won’t tell you that, you’ll have to find it on Google for your state.
Pursue that, first. Then, consult a lawyer, you could always sue the company. If you go with a lawyer and they don’t know anything about an uninsured motorist’s claim, they’re just wanting to get you to sign and will take you for about 1/3 of whatever claim you may receive. And, the lawyer gets paid first. That means, after all is said and done, you may still have medical bills that what’s left won’t cover.

They have insurance and you have insurance? Okay, great then. Your insurance company sues his insurance company. That’s how it works, and you’re right, you shouldn’t need a lawyer. However, you should be working with the lawyer the insurance company.

Don’t do another thing until you get your own lawyer!!!! Their insurance company will try to get off with as little as possible. I don’t care how sympathetic they sound don’t trust them. Get a good attorney. Don’t worry about the fee, it will be included in the settlement.
Please do this or you will lose your chance at a fair settlement.

There are two types of compensation for car accident victims. The first one is called “general damages” which include sustained physical injuries, pain, medications, therapies, and hospital bills. Meanwhile, “special damages” include future losses and loss of potential earnings.
The price of damages can vary from case to case so it’s not just thrice the amount or the exact amount a car victim may deserve.
It is important that victims should not make any statement, settlement or sign documents without first consulting with legal representatives to make sure they will be rightfully compensated.

The insurance company will probably offer to pay the $7000 and not a penny more. If you want any more than that, you ARE going to need a lawyer…
