The car was insured that is the main thing and it is covered because it is insured no matter who drives it. You should be listed as an occasional driver though, none the less it it insured. Call the insurance company and get your witnesses in line with sworn affidavits of what happened. Then let the insurance company take care of it. Learn a lesson here to always, always exchange insurance information and have the police make up a report on the accident. She played your inexperience and nervousness she did not want the insurance involved because she was at fault. Stand up for yourself and do not let this happen. No you will not lose your license as the car was insured.

Why didn't you pay for your own insurance, instead of driving without insurance because your dad didn't want to pay for it? If you get insurance now, it won't help you because it wasn't effective when the accident occurred. I take it the police weren't contacted? The police should have ticketed the other driver for failure to stop. It's not your fault for being a teenager, that's a bullshit excuse. If you were making a left turn on a green arrow, you had the right of way and she is at fault. The problem here, is you are more worried about your license than your father's car, which I assume was damaged also. You are facing the consequences that result from breaking the law, which is what you did when you drove with no insurance. This is a mess, I hope it was worth it to you.

If there is insurance on the vehicle and you were driving with permission, you are covered. Your dad will be in trouble after the fact for not adding you when he should have, but nonetheless you are covered. Make a report to the insurance and let them handle it, making sure they know about your witness. If someone ran a red light and hit you, it is their fault. As far as I know there is no ordinance on the books in CA that states "Since you are 17, it's your fault." I do wish you well.

You have two VERY different situations going on at one time. First is the accident. If you have a witness, make sure you get something in writing from him and it's notarized. Second, could be a problem for your Dad. He allowed an uninsured driver to operate his vehicle. He may be in court also. Your license may be suspended for driving while uninsured.
