I hit a car in Los Angeles and I have State Farm. The guy I hit drives a range rover and all I did was scratch his driver's side door. The body shop wants $1200 to repaint the door, which I think is insane. I would pay cash, but $1200 is a lot of money. Does State Farm have accident forgiveness, or will my premium go up if I claim this on my insurance?
Your insurance will only go up a tad. If you are enjoying the regular rate minus 40% (the maximum discount) then you will probably be bumped up to a 30% discount. no big deal.
I did $1200 damage to a car after I got hit by another car, so I lost my 10% discount for no accidents in 10 years), so I pay $10 a month more for my car than for my wifes car.
Only "farmers" has that "accident forgiveness' thing, but its a marketing ploy, they make up for it elsewhere.

I agree, the accident forgiveness is a marketing ploy. But in Texas, only Allstate advertises it. As a insurance agent, when my clients ask me that question, the answer is yes. If you have an at fault accident, your premium will likely go up. Doesn't matter who you are with.
