What happens when a police car crashes into you?

Ok an Irving polic car crashed into my car and i was with my one year old niece. We are both ok thank God. So what happens now? Will my car be fixed or what? It was not my fault. It was the cop’s fault.
I don’t need your smartalic or childish remarks.

The city’s insurance company will send out an adjuster to look at your car’s damage, and they will pay to fix the damage. Also, if you had any medical bills or lost work time, they will pay for that too.

They will indemnify you.

Indemnify means ‘make whole’, or put things back like they were before the accident. You need to call the city attorney’s office (you can find their number in the blue pages in the phone book) and ask them when they’ll be taking care of your damage.

I’m glad you and your daughter are okay.

In California if a car accident results in death of someone is it always charged as a felony?

Meaning will the driver always serve a prison term regardless of who was in the wrong? Does the "loss of life" mean automatic felony charge regardless of the circumstances?

No. That’s why they are called "accidents". (They’re really called collisions by police.)

If the driver, living driver, is found to be grossly negligent, they will probably face a trial.

Is it safe to assume there will be more motorcycle accidents this weekend?

Due to the Harley reunion in Milwaukee?
I ask because I was rear-ended yesterday by another CAR while the driver gawked at another CAR accident.
I LOVE watching and welcoming bikers from all around the world and intend no disrespect with this question, just looking for opinions.
Welcome Harley riders. May you have a safe and enjoyable journey!
Exactly my point Rudy. Thank you!
I just love this city!

You got hit by a car, so you think bikes are more likely to have an accident. OK, let’s skip that logic. More bikes may be involved in accidents in that area on that day under those conditions. Statistically, probably the same or less chance overall as the overall ‘visibility" of bike to other drivers will be very high as well.

Why are people so concerned about plane crashes but not car crashes?

Car crashes are much more likely.

I think its because to a certain extent you are in control in a car crash. In a plane crash, you allow someone else to determine your fate and you just wait.

Also, fatalities are much more likely in a plane crash.

How long do I have to report a car accident in the state of California.?

I was in a car accident no police report was filed. It was not my car and I don’t have insurance, however the owner of the car does. So what is the statue for filing a police report. Also am I still responsible for the damages even though I wasn’t at fault and might not be covered on the car insurance.

When you have an accident, report it to DMV within 10 days if:
? More than $750 in damage was done to the property of any person.
? Anyone was injured (no matter how slightly) or killed.

Each driver (or the driver’s insurance agent, broker, or legal representative) must make a report to DMV using the Report of Traffic Accident Occurring in California form (SR 1). The CHP or police will not make this report for you. Call 1-800-777-0133 and ask for the SR 1 or go online at www.dmv.ca.gov.

*/End of Line.
